Community Reuse Project Officer
Lil (Lower Impact Living CIC) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Community Reuse Project Officer to support our reuse events and Revolving Wardrobe on a sessional basis. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to sustainable living initiatives and promote environmental awareness in our local community.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Event Organisation
Assist in planning and executing community reuse events, including festivals and pop-up clothing exchanges
Liaise with local partners and Council officials to secure venues and necessary permissions
Develop event schedules and coordinate activities to ensure smooth operations
Create and distribute promotional materials to increase community engagement, including social media
Volunteer Management
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for various reuse initiatives
Assign tasks and create rotas for volunteer shifts during events
Provide on-site leadership and support to volunteers
Recognise and appreciate volunteer contributions
Event Day Coordination
Oversee setup and breakdown of event infrastructure
Manage on-site activities and address any issues that arise
Ensure all health and safety protocols are followed
Coordinate with exhibitors and participants to maintain a positive event atmosphere
Donation Management
Organise and manage donation drives leading up to events
Implement efficient systems for collecting, sorting, and storing donated items
Ensure proper handling and processing of reusable materials
Maintain accurate records of donations received and distributed
Other Community Outreach
Engage with local community groups to promote reuse initiatives
Deliver presentations and workshops on sustainable living practices
Develop partnerships with local businesses and organisations to support reuse efforts
Monitoring & Evaluation
Support evaluation, reporting to managers and funders
Budgetary reporting
Qualifications and Skills:
Strong can-do, flexible attitude (essential)
Proven experience in community development, event coordination or similar roles (desirable)
Strong organisational and time management skills (essential)
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities (essential)
Experience in volunteer management and coordination (desirable)
Passion for sustainability and community engagement (essential)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team (essential)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office/ Google and social media platforms (desirable)
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (essential)
Budget and grant management experience (desirable)
Additional Information:
This is a sessional position with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required for events. It is currently supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.
Weekly hours are expected to be 10 hours, potentially more around events.
Pay rate: £15/hour. This is a temporary post which may be extended subject to securing further funding.
Location: It is a hybrid role, with work split between home, East Linton & event locations across East Lothian
